Enhancing the Syllabus with Web 2.0
Enhancing the syllabus with Web 2.0 is easier than you think. Projects, assignments, research can be taken from areas you may have normally assigned or wish you had time to discuss or incorporate into the curriculum. Tangential topics are excellent sources since they provide background to the material and posting on the blog does not impact lecture time. Short historical research or expository topics, especially in Mathematics and science courses make excellent choices. An important component of the assignments should be the research, use of citations and validation of sources. In other words, incorporating the Information Standards into the assignments. Infusion of Information Literacy, especially within the early years of education, lays a foundation for when the research becomes more complex and content critical.
